Cornerstone Resource Fund

The Cornerstone Resource Fund will assist Cornerstone Resource Alliance Inc. in partnering with the City of Key West in fully outfitting the John Jones Navigation Center (JJNC). The JJNC will be the first ever brick and mortar homeless shelter in Monroe County, FL! The fund proceeds will help to create necessary provision and equipping of this facility, which will create a permanent foundation for the wellness of homeless individuals in the Keys.

Cornerstone Resource Alliance Inc. was founded as a nonprofit in 2020 and received the City of Key West’s contract to manage the Keys Overnight Temporary Shelter (KOTS). Cornerstone continues to hold the contract with the City, and are currently operating out of a temporary facility/site during construction of the new John Jones Navigation Center.

Contributions to the fund support outfitting a brand-new facility to provide shelter, case management, and many other supportive services to our communities most marginalized residents. The City of Key West broke ground on the new facility in April of 2024 and expects to complete the project in mid-late 2025.

Some large-scale foreseeable needs will include: an operational on-site kitchen, furnishings, computers for a computer lab where clients can apply for jobs and more quickly get linked to benefits, and outfitting a private medical room where clients can receive medical and nursing care/evaluation.

“Because we are the only non-fee-based, low barrier shelter in Monroe County serving some of our most vulnerable residents, it’s always been our hope to have all of the resources our clients need under one roof,” says Elicia Pintabona, founder and president of CRA. “This fund is important because it will assist our community in outfitting an emergency homeless shelter with practical, wraparound services such as meals, healthcare, case management, and other supportive services all in one place.”

About CRA:

Founded in 2020 with the core principle of creating foundations, at CRA we pride ourselves on treating our clients with respect and kindness. No matter where they are on their journey, compassion, education, and understanding are core team values that we believe build a strong foundation to assisting people out of homelessness, and helping our community understand the needs of this vulnerable population.
