The Edward B. & Joan T. Knight Nursing Scholarship

Looking for a successful healthcare career? Would you enjoy providing quality care and companionship for grateful senior citizens? This is an opportunity to get your college tuition paid and gain hands-on skills working at Poinciana Gardens, a respected, nearly new assisted living facility in Key West.

Each scholarship will provide tuition & fees up to $15,000 for the Associate of Science in Nursing program at The College of the Florida Keys.

Applicants must be committed to completing the two year program at The College of the Florida Keys. Eligible students of any age should be enrolling in the Fundamentals of Nursing course at the College’s Key West campus. The scholarship is also open to graduating seniors from Key West High Schools.

Students must reside in the Lower Keys and have reliable transportation, be eligible to work in the United States, and maintain a GPA of 3.0 for the scholarship period,

To be accepted for the scholarship, the applicant will apply for a position at Poinciana Gardens, complete an interview and facility tour, and meet all hiring criteria.

  1. Student must agree to work a minimum of 16 hours per week at $19.00 per hour in the skilled nursing facility at Poinciana Gardens.
  2. Student must remain continuously employed at Poinciana Gardens for the duration of the ASN program which is 2 years.
  3. Upon graduation from the College of the Florida Keys nursing program, the student’s scholarship obligations are complete.

Tuition will be paid directly to the College of the Florida Keys upon verification of continued enrollment and review of GPA. The Edward B. & Joan T. Edward B and Joan T Knight Foundation

The mission of the Edward B and Joan T Knight Foundation shall be to support charitable, religious, educational and medical facilities that encourage the development of strong, moral, educated youth in Florida with an emphasis on the Florida Key as well as supporting organizations that promote strong family values.
