For at least 20 years, the Key West Visitor Center at 31281 Overseas Hwy, Big Pine Key, has been promoting local tourist related businesses by sending thousands of customers to Hotels, Motels and B&Bs, restaurants and other local tourist attractions.
Hurricane Irma had a huge impact on the Lower Keys in 2017 and destroyed the accessible ramp entrance to the Visitor Center. For seven years, the small business owner has not been able to rebuild and now, friends and neighbors are coming together to raise funds for a new ADA-compliant ramp. Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Keys has pledged $2450 in in-kind services to demolish the existing ramp.
The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys is acting as a fiscal agent for this short-term campaign dedicated to raise $9,790 to remove the existing ramp and for labor and materials to install a new ramp. Let’s help a small business owner in need and create access for all.
