Make this Valentine’s Day extra special by making a gift to CFFK in the name of someone special and support a cause close to their hearts! We’ll send an acknowledgement of your gift to your loved one.
You can also support a charity that resonates with that special someone, including those that serve our residents in need with food, healthcare, housing, rent assistance, and other essential services. Nonprofits in the Keys also protect the environment, preserve our unique cultural heritage, provide arts experiences, and more. You can find a list of causes and nonprofits serving the Keys here.
The Community Foundation manages many funds that were set up in memory of a lost loved one. The family of internationally known stunt pilot Fred Cabanas created a scholarship fund following his death in 2013 to support students pursuing careers in aviation. Sheri Cabanas told CFFK at the time, “Fred was a Key West icon…and was willing to help anybody learn how to fly.”
The Katie Higgs-Wyrwicki Memorial Culinary Scholarship was created by a family member to honor a passionate culinarian, wife, mother, and community volunteer. The scholarship now supports a graduating high school student interested in a culinary career.
The Bill Langley Jr. Memorial Fund, set up by his son Will in 2019, honors his late father. “This was his special place, so it made sense to create a fund at CFFK to help support everything he loved about our islands,” says Will, CFFK’s Vice Chair of Development.
Caroline Cash created the Jerry Cash Art Fund in honor of her husband when he passed away in 2012. For nearly a decade, the fund has been supporting arts organizations for activities that were near and dear to Jerry’s heart: painting, sculpture, music, and more. Caroline, a musician herself, passed away late last year.
