We’re pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to our Board of Governors. Community leaders Mary Barley, of Islamorada, and John DeWald, of Key West, have joined the board for a three-year term.
“These two community leaders bring incredible local business and community expertise to our board” said Ron Burd, CFFK Board Chair. “They will be a great help in our efforts to strengthen nonprofit organizations and work with our donor partners throughout the Keys.”
Mary Barley is a major supporter of wildlife and environmental issues. She serves on numerous boards and councils, including Chair of The Everglades Trust, and member of the History and Discovery Center, the Upper Keys Foundation, the Everglades Foundation, World Wildlife Fund Marine Leadership Committee, and National Parks Conservation Association, and many others. A long-time resident of Islamorada, Mary has received numerous awards and accolades for her work, including profiles in national magazines and newspapers, and was named a “Hero of the Planet” by TIME magazine.
John DeWald is a retired senior executive, having worked for more than 40 years in the Broadcast Entertainment Industry, most recently serving as a senior executive of program operations for NBC-Comcast. His positions have included overseeing administrative, financial, managerial and logistical operations for the television network as well as NBC News and Sports. He has served on a number of community boards, including The Clockwork Theatre Company in New York, and is Treasurer of 35 Sutton Owner’s Corporation. John has also been a volunteer educational mentor for the Take Stock in Children program in Monroe County.
