The Florida Keys Emergency Relief Fund provides relief and recovery to residents of the Florida Keys affected by disasters and/or emergencies. Donations are now being directed to Hurricane Irma recovery and relief. We will work through our local nonprofits and faith-based groups to distribute funds to help residents get their lives and homes back in order, similar to what we did after Hurricane Wilma in 2005. During that time with the generosity of many people and businesses, we were able to coordinate the distribution of $1.3 million to help residents with rent and housing needs, repairs, appliances, transportation needs, medical care, childcare, and supplies, etc. Donations to this Fund will provide the same type of assistance to those affected by Hurricane Irma.
Some of the areas of the Keys were hit harder than others. Donations may be designated to help a specific ‘area’ of the Keys, i.e. Lower, Middle or Upper Keys, although they cannot be restricted to a specific individual or business. Please indicate any gifts to be designated to a particular area in the “Additional Information” section on the Check Out page.
