The Community Foundation is committed to building a strong presence throughout Monroe County. In conjunction with its 25th anniversary this year, CFFK has created two new granting funds for the Upper and Middle Keys and two new Regional Advisory Councils to help expand its grant making and donor base Keys-wide.
Ten Upper Keys civic and business leaders have been appointed charter members of the new Upper Keys Advisory Council and ten Middle Keys community leaders have been named to the new Middle Keys Advisory Council to help broaden CFFK’s mission, grant making, philanthropic donor base, and public awareness in Key Largo, Islamorada, Tavernier, Marathon, and surrounding Middle and Upper Keys communities.
Advisory Council members meet quarterly throughout the year and will specifically help build philanthropy in the Upper and Middle Keys, raise awareness and advocate for the Community Foundation, advise CFFK on local needs and initiatives, identify potential nonprofits as grant applicants, and advise the CFFK Grants Committee on funding recommendations.

New Future Funds for Grants
Whether you live, work, or visit here, you can positively impact the future of our Middle and Upper Keys communities. Donations to two new granting funds established at CFFK will be matched dollar-for-dollar for two funds to support nonprofits for community needs from Marathon to Key Largo.
Contributions to the Middle Keys Future Fund will be matched 1-to-1 up to the first $25,000 by CFFK to provide grants to nonprofits based in and serving the Marathon area. Donations to the fund can be made here.
In addition, gifts to the Upper Keys Future Fund will also be matched 1-to-1 by CFFK up to the first $25,000 to provide grants to nonprofits based in and serving Key Largo, Islamorada, and Tavernier. Contributions can be made here.
“If you’ve ever wondered what you can do to make a difference, here is your opportunity,” said Laura Lietaert, CFFK Board Member and Chair of the Upper Keys Advisory Council for CFFK. “All our generous donors who support the fund will double the impact of their gifts, help as many people as possible, and positively enhance the future for our Upper Keys residents and community.”
Money from the two funds will be channeled directly to local nonprofits.
All donors, including those in Key West and the Lower Keys, also have a one-time opportunity to help residents and build a vibrant and sustainable future for the entire Keys by supporting CFFK’s 25th Anniversary Fund. The fund is matching gifts dollar-for-dollar up to $500,000. With the help of generous donors, CFFK has provided over $30 million in total community grants and services since it was founded in 1996.
