Congratulations to the Performance at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Music Program which was recently awarded a $1,000 grant from the Emily Boyd Lowe Music Fund at CFFK. The grant will be used to help support new musical talent through St. Paul’s Emerging Artist Program.
Emily Boyd Lowe was a musical performer and teacher who brought music to so many people in her lifetime. She was a voice teacher at the Florida Keys Community College and founded the Keys Chorale. When Emily passed away in 2012, a Field of Interest Fund was created in her memory by her husband, Donald, and beloved friends, who contributed to the Fund to promote music, specifically classical music. Grants from the Fund help continue Emily’s contributions and legacy to music in the Florida Keys. The Fund supports organizations and students of all ages wanting to improve their ability to perform classical music, such as providing stipends for musical study, underwriting concerts for musicians to showcase their talents, purchasing music and musical instruments, supporting music education efforts, and much more.
Pictured below is the presentation of the Grant Award Certificate to St. Paul’s Church Music Program. Of those in the picture below, Margaret, David and Susanne were all students of Professor Lowe during the many years she taught at Florida Keys Community College. They all take great pleasure in the Emily Boyd Lowe Music Fund’s contributions to keeping her ever present in providing quality music in our community.
