CFFK has received $250,000 from the Florida Panthers for the Florida Keys Emergency Relief Fund to aid Hurricane Irma recovery efforts. CFFK will use 100% of the generous donation for immediate community needs throughout the Keys. The check was presented during a pre-game ceremony at the professional ice hockey team’s home opener in Sunrise, FL, on October 7th.
Says CFFK President/CEO Dianna Sutton, “What the Panthers are doing is incredible. So many people and organizations across the country are concerned about the Florida Keys and helping us. The Panthers have really stepped up to the plate and done the most of any organization.”
Last week, the Community Foundation announced $38,000 in the first grants from the Relief Fund to help address urgent needs. Applications are now being accepted from nonprofit and faith-based organizations for recovery assistance.
