We’re pleased to welcome three new members to our Board of Governors. Business leaders Jodi Weinhofer, Jason Koler and Lauretta (Retz) Reeves have joined the board for a three-year term.
“These community leaders bring incredible local business expertise to our board along with an in-depth knowledge of the Keys” said Roger Heinen, CFFK Board Chair. “They will be a great help in our efforts to strengthen nonprofit organizations and work with our donor partners throughout the Keys.”
Jodi Weinhofer is President of The Lodging Association of the Florida Keys & Key West, a nonprofit trade organization representing the lodging industry and the businesses that work with lodging. She has served as President since 2005. Jodi has worked in property management, real estate and tourism since moving to the Keys 26 years ago. She is a board member of Leadership Monroe County, and serves on the Monroe County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Economic Affairs Committee and Tourism Committee. Originally from New Jersey, she has a BA degree from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.
Jason Koler is Publisher/Owner of Keys Weekly Newspapers. A resident of Marathon since 2004, Jason holds a BFA in English from the University of Toledo and serves on the board of the Pigeon Key Foundation (past chair, current secretary), and the Stanley Switlik Steering Committee. Past board positions include Leadership Monroe County and the Marathon Jaycees. He and his wife, Kate, also own Sweet Savannah’s Bake Shop and Ice Cream Café in Marathon. They are licensed foster parents and are the proud parents of Joshua and Joseph.
Lauretta (Retz) Reeves is a Partner in Islamorada Investment Management. A resident of the Florida Keys for more than a decade, she joined the firm in 2013 and is the International Equities Portfolio Manager. Retz is a Board member of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund and serves as Chair of the Investment Committee. She is a member of the Baptist Hospital Foundation Founders’ Society, Upper Keys Century Business and Professional Women, a mentor for Take Stock in Children, and a CFA Charter Holder and member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of South Florida. An Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (AWMA), Retz received a BBA from Florida International University and a MBA from Nova Southeastern University.
Special thanks to two Board members who have retired after years of service in leadership roles: Bill Porter and Karen Sharp. Bill was instrumental in creating the Center for Nonprofit Excellence. Karen served as Treasurer and Vice-Chair of Finance. We’ll miss their wisdom, participation and leadership. Bobby Highsmith, previously a Board Chair (2003-2004), also completed his term of service. Although we’ll miss their wisdom, participation and leadership on the Board, they are all avid supporters of CFFK’s mission and work.
The Community Foundation’s 2017-18 Executive Committee is Roger Heinen (chair), Ron Burd (vice chair – development), Michael Ingram (vice chair – marketing), Rita Linder (vice chair – grants), Doug Mayberry (secretary), Ann Reynolds (vice chair – investment), and Susanne Woods (treasurer and vice chair – finance). CFFK officers serve one-year terms.
